Leave Policies: How to create leave policies and manage assignees?

💡 Updating your Organisation’s leave policies may result in corresponding affected employees’ leave requests (Both approved and unapproved) getting cancelled. They would have to request for those leaves again once the policy has been updated

Navigate to the “Policies” section under “Leaves” and click on the “Leave Types” tab.

Click on "Create Leave Type" and fill out the Leave type details

Navigate to the "Leave Policies" Tab

Click on “Add leave policy” to create a new policy for the leave type you have selected. The leave policies may cater to different segments of your employees. Be it based on Job title, Work locations, Teams, etc. Let us now see how it works by creating and assigning a leave policy to the tech team in our organisation

Fill out the basic policy details

Configure the leave policy by setting up Allocation and Retroactivity

Set up the Accrual Configurations of your leave policy as shown

Now, Set up the Carry-forward configuration for the leave policy

Next step is to set up other configurations of the leave policy around Maximum balance caps and Negative Leave Balances

Now Add assignees to the newly created leave policy by clicking on the "Manage Assignees" button

In the “ Edit Assignees” Dialog box that pops up, click on “Unassigned Employees” tab to view the list of all the employees in the organisation without a leave policy

Select all the employees you wish to assign this leave policy by checking the box next to their name as shown

Once You’ve finalised the assignees, click on “Assign Employees”

Congratulations! You’ve created a leave policy and have assigned it to all the employees that are eligible.

đź’ˇ Note: If you wish to change the leave policy of a particular employee, you first have to unassign them from their existing policy and assign them to the new policy. In this process, all their existing leave balances and leave requests would be reset.
